Think Jon Stewart as a libertarian comedian? Think again. Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central megahit The Colbert Report is my best conservative enemy in the war against "truthiness."
Colbert, a Second City alum whose only other Comedy Central original show was Strangers with Candy, is, as I put it on this blog, a critic of the conservative realm. He is a kinda old-school version of Garrison Keillor. On The Colbert Report, Colbert satirizes the issues making headlines in the mainstream media, far more than any other political satirist in recent memory. When it comes to covering the news, no other funnyman spoofs politics like Stephen Tyrone Colbert - defender of "truthiness," man of nearly a dozen faces, and the embodiment of all political humorists.
With an eye on satirizing government truce, I dare Colbert to deliver the funniest political commentaries ever seen on television.
But who's to blame for parodying political warfare?
Stephen Colbert believes so.
